When Listeria monocytogenes goes to sleep….

INRA* scientists, working in collaboration with their colleagues at Institut Pasteur**, have demonstrated the novel capacity of L. monocytogenes to generate dormant intracellular forms that could be harboured, unsuspected, by their host. These findings are published on 30th November 2017 in PLoS Pathogens.

Antibiotics affect the efficacy of immunotherapy

A study published in the journal Science by a research team from Gustave Roussy, INSERM, INRA, AP-HP, IHU Méditerranée Infections and Paris-Sud University shows that prescribed antibiotics impair the efficacy of immunotherapy in cancer patients.

Cattle are the next top (animal) model

The study of mutations underlying sporadic syndromes in cattle, which also occur in humans, offers an interesting alternative to laboratory animals for confirming the genetic aetiology of isolated clinical case reports and gaining insight into the molecular mechanisms involved.

A new smartphone app to understand and prevent Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases

Signalement-Tique is a free app available now for download on iOS and Android smartphones. INRA and the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES), together with France’s Ministry for Solidarity and Health, are seeking volunteers to participate in research in the fight against ticks and tick-borne diseases.
